The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) has received a large number of reports of suspicious sports matches in the first quarter of 2022. As many as 42 reports of possible matchfixing were received by the organization.
More than half of the reports came from Europe and focused on betting on tennis matches. The reports were submitted by bookmakers working with IBIA, reported https://onlinecricket.bet/live-cricket-stream/.
Suspicious sports matches
In total, as many as 42 matches were reported by bookmakers within a three-month period. Remarkably, 14 of the 42 reports applied to tennis, of which eight tennis matches were completed in Europe. Soccer (10 reports) and table tennis (10 reports) followed closely behind. Other sports that were reported were volleyball (4 reports), pool (3 reports) and eSports (1 report). The latter sport is not allowed to be offered by gaming operators in the Netherlands.
The number of reports has decreased compared to the last quarter of last year. In the fourth quarter in 2021, 69 reports were received by the International Betting Integrity Association.
European sporting events
The majority of the reports came from Europe. These were mainly tennis matches (8 reports) and table tennis matches (9 reports). There were also two soccer matches that came to light, a match in Kosovo and a game in Spain. However, it is not yet clear which soccer matches were involved. There was one report of a match within eSports. The report did not come as a surprise, as the player Chen Bo was suspended for the rest of his life in early April. The Chinese player played 'League of Legends' at a professional level and was involved in match fixing.
Dutch gaming providers
The legal online casino that have obtained a license in the Netherlands are also affiliated with the IBIA. These include the legal gaming providers BetCity.nl, Bet365, LiveScore Bet, Bingoal, Circus Casino and the Jack's Casino Online. Soon the Holland Casino Online will also be added to the list.
